First Christmas Quilt – 2011

I had started working on the first of the quilts and realized the reason I picked out this particular pattern, the ‘Wedding Ring Strip’.  It is a slightly easier version of a quilt my Grammy had always wanted but would never make.  Back in 1991 I bought a machine made one at a ‘Midnight Madness’ sale at a mall and gave it to her.  She loved receiving the quilt even though she knew I had not made it myself.  After she passed away my mom and dad made sure I got the quilt back.

I finished this quilt over the weekend, it went together pretty easy but David had to help me keep up with which piece went where.  It got a little confusing until the pattern emerged.  Not saying who the different quilts are for until Christmas so I hope the person I have planned to give this to will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

I only have a few of the quilts left from my Grammy.  I was down to just one, and it was falling apart, but mom and dad found a few of the tops that Grammy had made but never had a chance to finish.  When I heard, I took them to one of the quilters I know and had then quilted.  I still have to bind them but after that I can store them and always have some of my Grammy’s work around me.
