My Husband’s Quilts

For my husband one of the perks of my quilting is he gets quilts.  He really appreciates that part of the deal.  Last year I made him two quilts.

The first was called ‘Yellow Brick Road’.  He picked out a fat quarter bundle of different marbled fabrics and we looked for a pattern he would like.  We ended up with Yellow Brick Road and started ok, but my lack of experience came back to bite us.  We could not make heads or tails out of some of the directions on piecing it together properly, so instead once we had everything cut out we made it into blocks similar to what I had done on the Turning 20 I did for Xander.  We really liked the result and David loves the quilt.

The second quilt I did for him was called ‘Braided Links’.  It is a really easy pattern we found in a book my mother-in-law loaned us and used a jelly roll David had found online called ‘Collection for a Cause’.  He also picked one of the fabrics from the jelly roll and ordered some extra yardage so we could do a border that matched.  While the fabrics were darker than called for in the original and the pattern gets a little muddled, it still turned out perfect and once again David could not be happier.
